Theme Talks and Worship

Top row: Rev. Sarah Lammert, Rev. Paul Boothby
Bottom: The SUUSI Flaming Chalice, Rev. Meg Barnhouse

Peak Oil! This year's theme talks and worship are notable for the discussion of Peak Oil, which says that in a few years, world oil production will decline, never to increase again. Molly Brown mentioned it in her Tuesday theme talk, discussing it at length and also mentioning global warming and some other problems of the future. She then gave us ways of dealing with these things. On Wednesday, Rev. Sarah Lammert told us what it is like to be the answer to life, the universe, and everything; that is, what it's like to be 42 years old. Rev. Meg Barnhouse gave her usual talk on religious liberalism, and there were several other speakers. All of them spoke to the accompaniment of this year's flaming chalice, a huge flame without actual fire.
