Workshops

Soon after Ingathering was over, the banners were collected and hung up behind the stage at Porterfield Hall (upper left). It is an impressive wall of banners. On Monday I began my workshops, after attending a Theme Talk given by Bonnie Whitehurst (lower right). One of them was Ballroom Dancing, taught by Michael Recant (from my church, the First UU Church of Richmond). He taught us beginning steps in Swing, Waltz, Foxtrot, and Rumba; I was hoping to get to Hustle or Cha-Cha but there was not enough time. We used some of this dancing at Serendipity at 9 pm; that was before the wild stuff happened. In the afternoon I went to a wildflower workshop held by Ernie Wilson. Later in the week, I was able to use what I learned to identify some of the flowers on a nature trip. And so my flame within was rekindled for the second day.
