circle in 1998 at Radford
This year's SUUSI began with Ingathering as usual, but it rained on us on the way up and thundered and lightninged. When we got to Burruss, a rainbow greeted the parade, shining right over it, in an apparent answer to my Rainbow Song at SUUSI 2002. At the Ingathering, Pete Leary greeted us with a song about SUUSI 2005's theme, Time to Fly, with its octave jump signifying flying. Afterwards, we went in a circle around the Drillfield and met each other in full view of the world through Virginia Tech's webcam.
When SUUSI was over on Saturday, we broke with our packing and leaving to come together into a closing circle, like we did in 1998 (above) and in every year I have attended SUUSI. The circle held together fairly well this time, until goodbying and hugs broke it up. Shortly after it broke up, I took a picture of Anne and Ken Wagner (our suitemate) standing on the quad. Then we packed up and went home, but we will be back on 2006 July 16 10:00 am for SUUSI to Rejoice and Renew.
